WrestleMania 36 Night 2 Review

Here's the Night 1 Review, which I hope you already read. I did Night 2 a little different as I worked on it during the show.

On to the Night 2 Review...

  • KICKOFF SHOW: Natalya v Liv Morgan - The most interesting part was probably listening to the screaming of both women in the empty arena especially Nattie. I had to ask my family, and apparently Liv won.  Good for her. (Winner: Liv Morgan)

  • NXT Women's Title Match: Rhea Ripley (c) v Charlotte Flair - This match was as physical as could be. I liked Charlotte working the knee as the finish ended up being Rhea tapping from the Figure 8.  We have a new champion and that's a great way to start the proceedings on the main show of Night 2. My buddy Kyle (@TRKG12) on Twitter dropped this gem too, "This match sounding like the intro of HBK's theme song." (Winner and new NXT Women's Champion Charlotte Flair)

  • Aleister Black v Bob Lashley - Not a bad match, but clear highlight was the Spear attempt (spurred on by Lana) that was countered with a Black Mass. Nice win for Black, and possibly setting up something interesting for Bob & Lana. (Winner: Aleister Black)

  • OTIS v Dolph Ziggler - Sonya Deville accompanied Ziggler to the ring. It looked like Sonya's distraction would be the difference, but MANDY ROSE hits the ring, slaps her former best friend, and hits the low blow on Ziggler. It was fantastic. OTIS got the win, and kissed the girl in the ring. Sports entertainment/wrestling at its finest. Putting smiles on faces, pals. (Winner: OTIS)

  • Last Man Standing Match: Randy Orton v EDGE - Long story short, this was good, but went way too long. Loved the ending. Thought both men did a lot of good stuff, but the match was still entirely too long. The callback at the end though was perfect, and that's why I loved that part. WWE melodrama done right...if the match was shorter. (Winner: EDGE)

  • 24/7 Segment - Gronk wins the title from Mojo with a Coffin Drop on a mass of humanity. (Gronk leaves WrestleMania as 24/7 Champion)

  • Raw Tag Title Match: Street Profits (c) v Angel Garza/Austin Theory - Zelina Vega was at ringside for this one, and that ended up mattering post-match. I loved the finish where Tez broke up the pin attempt with the splash from the top and Dawkins got the pin.

Post-match was solid too with the beatdown on the Profits, and Bianca Belair coming down to even the odds. (Winners and still Raw Tag Champions: Street Profits)

  • SmackDown Women's Title Match: Bayley (c) v Sasha Banks v Lacey Evans v Tamina v Naomi - I don't think I am alone in saying this was all about the Sasha/Bayley dynamic. Bayley retaining especially after Sasha was eliminated doesn't surprise me at all. I think we are still getting Sasha v Bayley down the road, but I liked how they kind of subverted those expectations tonight. I am very curious how this storyline looks when we pick up regular shows again. (Winner and still SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley)

  • Firefly Fun House Match: "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt v John Cena - This was wild. I didn't think I'd like it nearly as well as the Boneyard Match, but it was really effective. John Cena going on a trip through wrestling history only to get beaten by The Fiend was interesting. Bray basically had to get this win based on how they built to it, but the ride to get to the "match" part was absurd in a good way. This totally worked for me. (Winner?: "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt, Bray counted a three count on Cena by The Fiend at the end of the "match.")

  • WWE Title Match: Brock Lesnar (c) v Drew McIntyre - Don't have much to say here aside from the right guy won, and I wish it happened in front of a live crowd. Lesnar, and WWE have done a heck of a job heating Drew up in a very short time and Drew took that ball and ran with it. (Winner and new WWE Champion: Drew McIntyre)
I don't love the idea of the two night Manias going forward. I'd prefer to see them shorten the one night show and not worry about getting everyone on the card.

As something different during a really odd time, I think this was very effective. They did a great job on both nights.
