Is Baron Corbin Actually Good?

Short answer...Yeah, I think so.

Longer answer...I think he's an excellent heel who the crowd actually and more importantly actively dislikes.

What's the problem? I think his issue as of right now is two-fold. The first part is that he was majorly overexposed during his run as GM of Raw. That was compounded by that being a dark period of Raw where every episode felt like an absolute slog to get through, and for people like me the absence of Roman Reigns was a big blow to WWE programming in general.

Some will point to that and say it's proof that he's not good. I disagree with that notion. He was overexposed, but there was a lot more wrong with that Raw run than him.

The second issue is that right now he's in a role that doesn't suit his character. Baron Corbin especially as King Corbin comes off as more of a midcard gimmick. An entertaining one, but a midcard gimmick nonetheless.

Unfortunately, that's now he's being used. Instead he's been in a main event program with "The Big Dog" Roman Reigns. That isn't really an issue to me, but it should have been a short program. Instead it has dragged on and on and on and on.

All that said, I think Corbin is legitimately good at what he does. He fully commits, no matter how goofy the material is. His finisher has been strongly protected. He's big, and can move. As I mentioned before he makes a crowd legitimately hate him.

Baron Corbin is an effective character that has been put in a position that is not helping him.
