Back in January, I talked a little bit about what Toys R Us means to me when the first round of closures were announced. Since then Toys R Us announced they'd actually end up closing half their stores, and now we have that report claiming the whole chain may close next week.
In the grand scheme of life is this a big deal for me? No, and I can keep that in perspective obviously. It was something I really enjoyed, and have enjoyed even more now that I can experience it with my children.
Can I still take the kids to look for toys? Absolutely, but I will say there's just something a touch more magical about taking them to a toy store instead of a Walmart or Target to look at toys. That's the difference.
I touched on all this a little more thoroughly in the piece linked above, but it felt like it was time to address it again.
Bottom line: The direction malls and now Toys R Us is going is a real bummer for me. That's pretty much the best way I can put it. As a parting gift, enjoy this Toys R Us commercial I saw in one of the many articles about its demise.
