Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker Non-Spoiler Review

*I will likely add a brief video review to this post like the one I did for Aquaman at some point, but I wanted to go ahead and get this out here while it was fresh on my mind*

We finally made it out to see Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (will refer to it as TROS throughout the rest of this piece), and I have to say that it completely exceeded my expectations.

To put that in perspective I have enjoyed the "sequel trilogy," but this one hit a different gear for me.

It's also interesting to note that I enjoyed The Force Awakens on my fourth or fifth viewing the other day more than I have since maybe I saw it the first time in theaters.

Anyhow, back to TROS, it hit all of the right notes for me and I have really grown to appreciate the Finn, Poe Dameron, and Rey dynamic.

Seeing Billy Dee Williams back as Lando was nice as it looked like that dude was having an absolute blast playing that role again. I thought the stuff they did with Leia/Carrie Fisher worked really well considering the limitations due to her passing.

The trailers tease the return of Emperor Palpatine, and I have to admit I was not fired up about that. In context of what they ended up doing though I thought it worked really well.

I almost forgot, but I really liked the new character Jannah in this as well, and the revelation that comes from here is really interesting.

It's hard to touch on this one without spoilers so I'm going to use the spoiler tag here, but I thought this was really neat...

My one line review is...

"Sometimes fan service works...this was one of those times."
