The Fiend V Universal Champ Seth Rollins At Hell In A Cell Was A Bad Idea

At the end of Hell In A Cell, I was completely dumbfounded by how they ended that show. I actually liked the show on balance, but the ending was catastrophically dumb I could not believe it.

The bigger issue is that it wasn't a total surprise either. We all kicked around for weeks the idea that you had two scenarios going into that match, and both were bad.

Behind Door Number 1 you had The Fiend taking the Universal Title from Seth Rollins who has beaten Brock Lesnar TWICE in 2019 to win that belt.

Then behind Door Number 2 you have Seth Rollins overcoming The Fiend at a Hell In A Cell match when The Fiend is arguably your hottest act in the company.

Both are a problem of course.

The BIGGEST issue coming out of this is how it negatively impacted Seth Rollins (who was put in a bad way with the live crowd AND compounded it with the social media crowd), but the more annoying thing was people talking about the logic of it.

If something is a GODAWFUL idea, I don't really care how much logic it has. The follow-up (which we have seen since I started this post) has been received just about as poorly for Seth's sake at least.

The problem is that I don't care how much the story does or does not make sense, you cannot do what you did that live audience...PERIOD.

In pre-WWE Network days I'd point to the PPV audience too, but honestly my $9.99 a month isn't something I view as a huge investment so if I'm sitting on my couch and get a crap finish to a show I just kind of move on with my life.

Doing that to your live audience was a terrible idea, and the deserved the heat they got for it.

Basically, I don't want to hear and did not want to hear all the justifications for how it "made sense" or anything like that.

The bottom line is if THAT'S the best you can do to try to move that story along or "protect" two of your top acts...you CANNOT book that match in the first place.

That's it. We can all move on with our lives of course, but that match never should have happened with a finish like this.

**If it were up to me I'd say once you booked it then The Fiend had to leave as champion, but no matter you couldn't do THAT.**
