New WWE Champion Daniel Bryan V Universal Champion Brock Lesnar At Survivor Series

Thanks to Daniel Bryan's WWE Title win over AJ Styles last night on SmackDown, we are now getting Bryan v Brock at Survivor Series.

I wish I could say that match excited me, but I am completely UNfired up about it.

Part of it is I have almost zero interest in Brock Lesnar anymore. For me, all I wanted was to see him drop the Universal Championship to Roman Reigns (which finally happened thankfully). Once Roman forfeited the belt due to his illness I hoped to see BRAUN leave Crown Jewel with it, and now really only want to see Seth Rollins take it from him at WrestleMania 35.

Obviously, I didn't get the first thing, and I doubt I'm getting the second one either for that matter. So for now I'm stuck with Brock Lesnar Universal Champion.

For many it seems Daniel Bryan v Brock Lesnar is a dream match, and I respect that. There's no appeal in it for me especially with the freshly turned Daniel Bryan. I might understand it more if we were doing the David versus Goliath story, but that doesn't even fit as well anymore.

Honestly, I am rooting for heavy shenanigans as that would be more entertaining than this as a straight-up match for me. As a Wrestling Twitter friend pointed out both guys have enough simmering issues with others that shenanigans are likely. To me, they are likely and welcome.

It is important to note that I am not arguing that this match is bad business because it isn't. With the hot Ronda v Becky match OFF (Charlotte is the best replacement for Becky BTW), this is probably the best match they can give us to add some excitement back to this card.

This distinction matters to me because of how often it seems to be completely missed by others in wrestling discussion. I can dislike something and still acknowledge that it's smart business, but far too often people confuse their personal preference with good or bad business.  It's maddening.

All that said, I will be watching Survivor Series just like everyone else. My son IS fired up about it, and I think the show will be a lot of fun. I just wish I was as jacked up about Brock v Bryan as others are, but it is what it is.
