The Closing Of Our Favorite Toys R Us Store (Fayetteville, GA)

Before we get started, I'd highly recommend expanding the slideshow to take a look at the photos. I made sure to document what was likely our last trip to our favorite Toys R Us in Fayetteville, GA. We used to visit just about weekly, and as I discussed in this post about the originally announced closings (this one was on the very first list) it was a huge part of my birthday celebration with my son. There was a follow-up post that also touched on why TRU is so important to me.

I waited to post these because I wanted there to be definitive outcome to the Toys R Us saga before I shared. It's still kind of up in the air, but I figured it was time.

We know the chain has entered the liquidation process in the US, but there is some hope that either a) TRU Canada is sold and 200 US stores are saved in that purchase or b) Isaac Larian is successful in his bid to raise a billion dollars, and keep 400 US TRUs in business.

Also between the time of this visit and this post, Charles Lazarus, TRU's founder, passed away at the age of 94. All of us current collectors or former children owe Mr. Lazarus a debt of gratitude. His company has given me and mine a ton of happy memories over the years.
