Being a "real fan" of wrestling sounds exhausting. All the anger, complaining, open letter writing, etc.— FreebirdSTF (@S_ATL_Wrestling) April 25, 2017
I have shared something similar in the past, but one of the responses I got touched on my idea of what makes a "real fan" and it's pretty freaking simple.
That's it really. If you spend your time, passion, and energy on professional wrestling, you're a real fan.
We all know where this mentality comes from though. People get so wrapped up in their narratives about certain wrestlers, that they like to disregard people's views on them. It's maddening, but that's what they do and why they do it. They can dismiss any praise for a certain wrestler by arguing that those fans just aren't sophisticated enough or whatever.
It's a shame some of these folks are so insecure about their fandom that they behave like that. It is what it is though.
