Son: Do they say I'm going to hit you and you'll hit him?
Me (knowing full well what he was asking): What do you mean?
Son: Is it real? Now Dad smartened me up around the same age. I seem to recall that I was upset about a heel destroying a car a Von Erich won or something and Dad said, "You know it's not real, right?" I was crushed in that moment but by next week I was just as fired up to watch wrestling as I ever have been. All that said, I just wasn't ready to burst his bubble yet so our conversation continued...
Me: Do you enjoy it?
Me: Then does it matter?
Son: No.That's how the conversation ended. I will probably smarten him up sooner rather than later. We've got Raw in July so I may wait until after that. I'm not even sure why I shared this other than it will probably be one of my favorite wrestling memories I've shared with my son. It's right up ther with watching Memphis with my dad. It reminds me of a quote I've seen somewhere that says, "Wrestling's not real or fake...it's magic!" The other night that certainly was the case.
