I'll start with the promo leading up to the Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar match. Many wrestling fans will look at Brock Lesnar's return, at this point in time, as somewhat of a bust, looking at the won-loss record as not being as good as it could be, however, in just a few short minutes, this promo made you believe that he did a shot at breaking The Undertaker's undefeated streak, which, at the end he did. The other reason why I featured this one first is while the other two utilize pop music songs, this one did not and relied more on orchestral music and Paul Heyman himself to hype the match, to great effect in my opinion.
This next one, hyping John Cena's match against the leader of the Wyatt family, Bray Wyatt, featured an Eminem song named "Legacy" which fit perfectly into the story they were telling going into the match. The story basically Bray Wyatt doing what he can to turn John Cena, destroy the legacy he built as the Ace of the WWE. I'd like to believe this was the start of Cena's slow decent back from the main and helping to put over some of the newer guys, to an extent of course, as Cena went on to win the match, but, he wasn't featured in the title matches, just a featured match, which, at this point is where he should be. Whoever found the Eminem song to match the story deserves a lot of credit, it matches perfectly. And just how high the WWE has raised the bar with this and this next one.
With this one, I remember vividly the few months leading up to WrestleMania, the panel on the A1 Wrestling Podcast really was not into the build of this match, Triple H vs Daniel Bryan. And if memory serves correctly, it was because there were not as many hope spots, spots during a show where you have a glimmer of hope that that hero, in this case Daniel Bryan, would defy the odds. However, with a simple promo, using a great Imagine Dragons song, things can turn around in an instant. All three videos mentioned in this entry are fantastic, and I would put this one above them all, succinctly telling the Daniel Bryan journey to this point where he has a chance to enter himself into title match later on in the show.
