Yesterday was the 44th anniversary of death of Jimi Hendrix. My first real exposure to Hendrix beyond hearing his songs on the radio from time to time was in high school. Dad (GW) had gotten out his 8-track player and set it up in my room. My favorite 8-tracks were the Jimi Hendrix ones and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Anyhow, I spent hours listening to "Are You Experienced." The first song that really grabbed me was "Hey Joe." To this day it's still one of my favorite songs and almost certainly my favorite song by Hendrix (although not one he actually wrote).
I remember going to the Turtle's in my hometown of Fayetteville, GA and using a couple of my gift coins and being able to get "The Ultimate Experience" for $4 out of pocket. That my friends was a good day.
RIP James Marshall Hendrix
As for this weekend, we've got a big SEC showdown between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Gators from Gainesville, FL. Also we've got the Tyrone Founders Day parade which my family will be a part of representing FBC Tyrone. On Sunday I intend to take my son to his first wrestling show as part of the Founders day festivities.
Hopefully you all have a great weekend too.
