FreebirdSTF's Ten Favorite Active Wrestlers (September 2014)

I like to revisit this list every so often to kind of see how my opinion has changed and how the industry has changed.  As usual I list them in alphabetical order.  It's hard enough for me to come up with only 10.  It's near impossible for me to rank them in any particular order.

Here's the list:
  1. Bray Wyatt--Big fan of the gimmick and the ring work. Wish he could break out of the midcard cycle.
  2. Bad News Barrett--Hilarious gimick that amazingly works well with the tough guy vibe. Hope injuries aren't an ongoing concern.
  3. Brock Lesnar--BEAST, great mouthpiece in Paul Heyman.  Great pairing with those two.
  4. Cesaro--Underutilized, but supremely talented.
  5. Dean Ambrose--Shield gimmick actually held him back. Loving his Piper/Funk/Pillman vibe.
  6. Jack Swagger--Deceptively huge, another solid managerial pairing with Zeb Colter and his face turn was unexpected and did wonders for him. Perennial SAW favorite.
  7. Luke Harper--There's nothing this guy doesn't do well.  He adds a lot to Wyatt's gimmick.  Rowan doesn't make the cut because he simply isn't as interesting as Luke Harper.
  8. Mark Henry--Always has that great bad dude vibe whether he's a heel or a face.  Great entrance music enhances the whole deal.
  9. Randy Orton--Underrated and overly criticized.
  10. Roman Reigns--Has IT, like Henry he just oozes a certain type of tough guy vibe.
Below are the honorable mentions and honestly several of them could easily be swapped out with others on this list.

Honorable Mentions: Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Big Show, Kane, El Patron FKA Alberto Del Rio, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Miz, James Storm, AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley.

Notable Omission:  Kofi Kingston.  He's always made the list, but he's been used so sparingly and in such a meaningless manner for so long it's kind of like he doesn't register with me anymore.  If that stable with Big E and Xavier Woods ever takes flight again he could certainly reappear on the list.

Some of the Impact Wrestling (current or former) talents might make the top 10, but I simply don't watch that product.  That's also why this list is exclusively made up of WWE talent.  That's what I enjoy and that's what I watch.

Turns out that I didn't do this as long ago as I thought:
