Booking WWE: Sheamus/Orton vs Henry/Bryan

I am no fantasy booker, but I certainly have no issue saying, "I think they should do this" from time-to-time.

I have been thinking for a while now that it is time for Randy Orton to turn heel again. I have enjoyed his work as a face and think he should be a face again at some point, but he is a natural heel. His character simply works better as a heel in my opinion.

So I got to thinking about how I would turn Orton. This is what I came up with.

Basically, you need to create some level of an alliance between Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan. I'm not talking about a stable, but have Henry and Bryan work together to attempt to destroy Sheamus. With John Laurinaitis in charge of SmackDown and RAW, you could even have a handicap match where Sheamus is left destroyed by Henry and Bryan. At some point though, you need to have a post-match beatdown of Sheamus where Randy Orton comes out to make the save.

Next step is to have Orton continue to watch Sheamus' back. Have them team together against Bryan and Henry. You could do a six-man tag match at some point even to keep things fresh.

Long story short, you have Sheamus take care of business against Bryan or Henry at a PPV at some point. That leaves him to defeat the other one at RAW, SmackDown or even the next PPV.

For the sake of discussion, let's say it's now Sheamus/Daniel Bryan. You have Henry attempt to interfere only to be thwarted by Orton. Once a battered and beaten Sheamus escapes with the title, Orton helps him to his feet, hits the RKO and then PUNTS Sheamus.

Now you're off-and-running as Randy Orton has punked his buddy Sheamus and firmly establishes himself as the sadistic heel he plays so well.

This isn't meant to be some sort of ground-breaking angle. It's quite simple and probably not even worth typing up here, but it would be effective and I hope WWE is considering a Sheamus/Orton feud down the line for Big Gold.

  1. Great read! I think it was worth typing up, and the idea of Randy turning heel is one I fully agree with, and this type of slow turn would be a great way to do it! (Reminded me a little of when Dusty saved Flair from the Russians way back when, and then Flair and the Anderson's broke Dusty's leg... what a moment!)

  2. Thanks for the feedback, I also forgot to mention that I think you have Bryan and Henry acknowledge that their alliance is simply in place to unseat Sheamus. Part of it would be that they have a deal to give one another future title shots if either wins the belt.
