FreebirdSTF's Top 15 Favorites of All-Time

I've already posted my three favorite wrestlers of all-time. They are the first three on this list and are in the proper order. I am not ranking the rest, but here is the rest of my list in no particular order. As I did with my dad's list, tag teams are only one entry. Stables must be listed separately, but tag teams only take up one spot.  Numbers 1 through 3 are in order.  Numbers 4-15 are in no particular order.

TOP 15:
  • "Nature Boy" Ric Flair--GOAT!
  • Jake "The Snake" Roberts--Great psychology, finisher and look.
  • Magnum TA--Complete package, shame his career ended so tragically.
  • Fabulous Freebirds (Michael PS Hayes, Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy, Buddy "Jack" Roberts and Jimmy "Jam" Garvin--Great southern party guy gimmick.  Hayes can talk with the best of them, Buddy Jack was hilarious and Bam Bam was great muscle.
  • Booker T--Great look and charisma.  My favorite thing about WCW at the end.  Him winning the WCW Title was a true wrestling highlight for me, SUCKA!
  • "Macho Man" Randy Savage--Great worker, charisma, unique, great look. What's not to like? DIG IT!
  • The Rock--Oozes charisma, in the discussion for GOAT.
  • Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal)--Revolutionized tag wrestling, scary/badass looks.  Perfect for pro-wrestling.
  • Ron Simmons--Always liked Ron, glad to see him get the APA run. Beating Vader for the WCW Title was another feelgood moment.
  • "The Total Package" Lex Luger--Great look, cool finisher.  Not a great promo, but got the crowd behind him as a face and also an effective heel.
  • DDP, Diamond Dallas Page--Hottest act in wrestling for a period of time, kind of goofy but it worked for him.  Versatile finishing move.
  • "Double A" aka "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson--Underrated, great promo. Original Horsemen and Flair's right-hand man, it's a shame he couldn't go in the ring longer.
  • "Stone Cold" Steve Austin--Another in the GOAT discussion, phenomenal gimmick, promo and charisma
  • Junkyard Dog--Another one that oozed charisma, the chain was a cool touch. Undeniably likeable.
  • Sting--Another who couldn't cut a great promo, but an awesome babyface.  Crow gimmick looks dated now, but was absolute money at the time.
HONORABLE MENTIONS (Again in no particular order):
  • Ole Anderson--Tag team specialist, great heel.  Didn't appreciate him as a kid, but do now looking back at his career.
  • Kurt Angle--See below
  • Mark Henry--Unique look, realistic attitude.  Scary dude.
  • Edge--Rated-R Superstar, loved him and Lita together.
  • Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott)--Tough guys, great in the ring.
  • Nick Bockwinkel--Another guy I didn't see enough as a kid, but he was an incredible, believable champion and by every account and consummate professional.
  • Stan "The Lariat" Hansen--Rough and tumble brawler with a great finisher.  Had I gotten to see him more as a kid he probably would have made the top 15.
  • Vader--Big, agile, rough brawler.  Great gimmick until Hogan killed his heat in WCW.
  • "Rowdy" Roddy Piper--Charisma to spare and great talker. Worked well as heel or face.
  • "The Apex Predator" Randy Orton--Sadistic heel, Legend Killer gimmick was amazing.
  • Bruiser Brody--Unique brawler, another tragic ending.
  • CM Punk--Simply "The Best in the World" right now.
  • Tully Blanchard--Founding member of the Horsemen, solid "cool bad guy" and worker.
  • Barry Windham--Could do it all, nice addition to the Horsemen group. Face or heel, solid.
  • Jack Swagger--Love the All-American American, deserves better.  Glad he holds the US Title at least.
  • Kofi Kingston--Fun high-flyer. Hope he gets a legitimate push after Evan Bourne screwed up their tag push.
  • Big Show--Talented freak of nature. Funny guy and excellent as face or heel.
  • Taz/Taz--Path of Rage, great gimmick that projected badass as well as anyone.
  • Big Boss Man/Big Bubba/Ray Traylor--Georgia guy, always a fun worker no matter the gimmick.  Came across as a good guy off-screen.
  • Bret "The Hitman" Hart--Great as champ in WWE, WCW totally blew their opportunity with this guy
  • The Dudleyz/Team 3D--My favorite of the ECW tag teams and my favorite tag team act alongside the APA in WWE during that era.
  • Faces of Fear (Meng and Barbarian)--Underrated WCW tag team.
NOTABLE OMISSIONS:
  • Hulk Hogan--Loved him as a kid much like everyone my age, but his time in WCW really turned me on him for good.
  • Chris Benoit--He would have at least made the honorable mentions and probably the top 15, but I'm not going to put him there now .
  • Matt Hardy--He's a guy I was huge on until things started to unravel for him.  Had I done this list several years ago he probably would have made it.
FINAL THOUGHTS:  Taz and Kurt Angle were the two I struggled the most with leaving off the top 15.  Taz was my absolute favorite of the ECW crew.  Kurt Angle could work, interjected humor into his act effectively and had legitimate credentials.  He really was amazing through most of his WWE run.  His time in TNA has not helped him in my eyes.

That's it for my Top 15.  I am sure we will revisit this from time-to-time.
