FreebirdSTF's Number 3 All-Time: Magnum TA

Magnum TA came in at number three on my list.  At the time of his accident in October of 1986, Magnum was probably my favorite wrestler.  At that point this eight year old had no appreciaton for "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, the IV Horsemen or his cheating ways.  Jake "The Snake" Roberts was not someone I got to see a lot of either.  Magnum TA was on my TV most Saturday nights standing up to bullies like Flair and Horsemen.

Magnum had a great look (Hey mullets were the IN back then!) and had a coolness about him that made him "better" than America's Team teammate, Dusty Rhodes at that point.

The obvious highlight of Magnum TA's career has to be his Starrcade (1985) "I Quit!" cage match with Tully Blanchard.

I mean, it's tough to beat a scene like babyface Magnum TA burying a sharp piece of wood in Tully Blanchard's face to retake the US Title.

As I've already referenced, Magnum's career sadly came to an abrupt end with his 1986 car accident. Slam! Wrestling does a better job covering this tragedy far better than I could hope to so check out their article here.

Magnum could work, could promo, had a great look and undeniable charisma. For all those reasons he is my #3 favorite wrestler of all-time. Sadly, we'll never know what might have been, but he certainly left a mark on this wrestling fan.
