Cena/Rock: Three match series?

I saw this piece on DOT NET today:
There have been rumors of a three match series between John Cena and Rock for some time and this will only lead to more.
How should this series be booked? I'm no fantasy booker, but I am really stumped and here's why.
  • This year is in the Rock's hometown of Miami, FL
  • The Rock is making his triumphant return to WrestleMania
Why does this matter?  You really cannot or should not have the Rock lose in the WM 28 match.  The problem with that is, I don't think John Cena winning the next two is much more appealing.  Clearly though, Cena should win two out of three and definitely win the last one.  That only makes sense.

I suppose you have a questionable finish in the second one, but if it's a match at WrestleMania then that's also not terribly appealing.  I don't know, I am having trouble coming up with satisfying outcomes for all three matches.

I would be curious to see if any of you have some solid suggestions on how to do a three match series between these two.

  1. It will be really interesting to see how they pull this off. I'm wondering if they will actually pull the reversal of roles next year and complete the Cena heel turn like they seem to be trying right now. NY will absolutely hate Cena (he's from Boston) which would make it the perfect location for him to win the match and continue the heel persona. No questionable finish necessary. I do agree that they would have to make Cena win the last match, which we could assume would be the Rock's last match. I'd love to see anepic Iron Man match between the two of them, if they could both pull it off physically. Then it is a best of 3 with it potentially being a best of 5 or even 7 all within the context of one match. However it plays out, I'll be watching.

  2. "However it plays out, I'll be watching." Truer words have never been spoken, good point.
