Scott Hall vs Larry Z: nWo Souled Out '98
This was a fairly interesting angle from the nWo days. Now I'm not a huge fan of inserting retired wrestlers or commentator into matches like this in general, but in the terms of the nWo angle I kind of bought this one. Also, Larry Z wasn't really that old in the grand scheme of things which makes a difference as well. He had recently turned 46 when this match took place. That's a bit different than 60+ year old Jerry Lawler basically beating the WWE Champion, the Miz, in my opinion.
Anyhow, this is a fun match with a really idiotic aspect to it. WCW decided to turn "The American Dream" heel. That was stupid to begin with. The real stupidity starts though when they basically do nothing with that. He seconded Hall for a while (he was even his manager on WCW/nWo Revenge for the N64), but it screamed of a turn for the sake of a turn. I don't really recall any big blowoff to it. One day Dusty was just a face again and that was it. There may have been a blowoff, but the problem is that I don't remember one. I watched WCW programming religiously in those days and if I have no recollection of how the Dream turned face again then it was a fairly pointless turn.
