Original MitB Plans?

While we are still enjoying the fallout of the epic Money in the Bank main event there is a report out there stating that things could have played out differently.  Here is that rumor from Lords of Pain:
According to a new report, the plan for Money in the Bank as recent as a few days before the pay-per-view was to have Alberto Del Rio cash in his briefcase and leave the show as the new WWE Champion, regardless of what happened between John Cena and CM Punk.
While not as great as Punk making good on his threat to Vince McMahon, this would have also been a solid turn of events.  It made perfect sense from a storyline standpoint.  The belt on ADR needs to happen sooner or later and is a virtual lock at this point.

I am glad that they went the Punk direction though because it really is a ballsy move on their part.  If for no other reason they appear to be prepared to actually have Punk stay off TV while still holding the WWE Title.

I was a little let down by RAW last night, but this is still a great story that I can't wait to see unfold.
